Marlin Bohling was raised on a diversified family farm on the Kansas/Nebraska border near the small town of Byron, NE. After managing the farm operation for over two decades, he gradually transitioned into a career as a farm broadcaster beginning in 1996 with his first station, KFRM, based in Clay Center, KS. In 2002, he moved to Raleigh, NC where he worked for the legendary news talk station, WPTF, and its sister company, the Southern Farm Network. In 2012, he accepted a position back in the Plains as a farm broadcaster with KRVN and the Rural Radio Network based in Lexington, NE. Then in 2014, he gained a national and international audience when he went to work for RFD-TV and Rural Radio SiriusXM channel 147 with studio operations based in Nashville, TN. In January of 2024, he teamed up with Commstock Investments based in West Des Moines, IA to become Executive Director of Online Content for the company’s Commstock Channel, online media, and radio syndication.

Throughout his broadcasting career, he continually honed his skills focusing on commodity markets as he interacted with numerous well known market analysts from around the nation live every day. He has been widely heralded for his easy-going style of interviewing laced with hard hitting, thought provoking questions of his guests while keeping the audience engaged with clever, light hearted banter and ad lib discussion of breaking news items.

Bohling was the 2006 recipient of the prestigious “Oscar in Agriculture” Award given at the National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) convention in Kansas City. He has also been the recipient of numerous awards including being the winner of the NAFB national Marketcast Award for radio broadcasters as well as its companion category of Video Marketcast Award for television broadcasters.

He has served in multiple leadership capacities including as Co-Chair of the NAFB New Service Committee, president of the North Carolina Farmwriters and Broadcasters organization, and president of the Wake County (NC) Agribusiness Council.

Besides his broadcasting and production agriculture career, he has also been heavily involved with agricultural web programming, podcasting, and freelance work utilizing his own home-based studio.

Raised in the small town of New Washington, Indiana, my family immersed me in the agricultural industry, where we raised show pigs, sheep, and goats as well as involved in rodeo activities.

I pursued my higher education at Connor State College, where I not only participated in rodeo but also obtained my Associate of Science degree as well as an Equine Certificate in Management and Training. Eager to continue expanding my knowledge, I then went on to Oklahoma State University, where I ultimately graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources with a degree in Agricultural Leadership.

After completing my education, I ventured into freelancing and traveling where I gained invaluable experience by honing in on my skills. Eventually, I found my true passion in broadcasting and media, leading me to embark on an exciting career journey to Louisiana with the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation and their show “This Week In Louisiana Agriculture”. Since then, I have had the privilege of serving as the Executive Producer of Online Content for the CommStock Investment team, where I am based in Brownwood, TX. In this role, I am responsible for creating daily videos for the CommStock Channel, managing social media, and overseeing marketing and advertisement efforts.

Beyond my broadcasting and production career, I also freelance in photography, videography, graphic design, and marketing both within and outside the agricultural industry. When I’m not immersed in these creative pursuits, you’ll often find me in the barn, where my significant other and I raise show stock, representing our passion for agriculture in various shows across the country.
