Corn and wheat look short-term toppy on the daily charts, while soybeans are still showing a bull flag. The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for the Northern Plains and western Corn Belt from Friday through next Wednesday, with widespread high temperatures of 95 to 105 degrees expected. Besides extreme daytime temperatures, daily lows may be record-high in some areas. Corn that is pollinating will be at risk in the most extreme areas. The period of above-normal temps is expected to extend through at least July 22, though extreme highs are forecast to shift over the PNW and multiple rainfall chances are likely across much of the Corn Belt. Weather markets can be fickle. In this case, traders don’t see risk of extreme conditions over a wide area for an extended period.
