Talking about the weather is no longer “small talk”. The weather this past week or so demanded respect and recognition. Yeah, it was super-hot in DC messing with the 250th celebration, but FIFA revelers here for the soccer games are reveling and raving about our AC. We have massive wildfires in Utah, floods in Iowa and Tennessee, a massive hail storms south of Trumbull in Clay County NE in late June and an all-time record high wind of 131 mph ever recorded in Hyde County SD. The gale took out a wind farm. That wind was as strong as a Cat-4 hurricane. The set-up has been the massive high-pressure system stationed over most of the east half of the US with the Bermuda high pumping a lot of gulf moisture up into the heartland. The hot moist air is clashing with cold air from the NW triggering daily ridge riding thunderstorms so that it has rained here every day, sometime during the day, for several days. We now have high humidity as this moisture evaporates and it has become a rinse and repeat cycle where we live in NW IA. When we see puddles standing in the yard lingering…
