December corn held near unchanged overnight after yesterday’s move to the highest price since July 3. Wheat futures were mildly supported by news of a Ukrainian drone strike on Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, a key export hub for grains and oil. An oil terminal was damaged, while there were no reports of structural impacts to grain terminals in the port. Russia retaliated with strikes on Kyiv. USDA’s November Crop Production and WASDE Reports will be released at 11 a.m. CT – the first updates since September due to the government shutdown. There’s a lot of uncertainty around what USDA will estimate for corn and soybean production and yields after missing last month’s report, though yields and crop size are expected to decline from September.
