On the Grains
Good morning. We are back at it after a wonderful Farm Family Master Class. My expectations were blown out of the water. First and foremost, thank you to all who attended. We had several time zones represented and a very diverse crowd. Day one was mostly about succession planning, followed up with a panelist of wildly successful farmers and businessmen. I believe that the most common theme during their lifetime of building their empires was their spouses’ 100% dedication and support. Maybe Alan Jackson did say it best, “without someone, nothing ain’t worth a dime.” I also found myself deeply grateful to the person at my home during the good and bad days, without her, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Other take-home points were that nothing comes without risk and the most important life lessons were learned from the failures. No matter how much time we have on this earth, it will be too short, and planning could mean the difference between the legacy farm moving forward or not.
